Standard Test Methods for Flammability of Rigid Plastic Materials Used for Electrical Insulation
Importancia y uso:
4.1 Two fire test methods are contained in this standard. Both test methods provide procedures which make relative comparisons of the ignitability and continued flaming (if ignition occurs) of the rigid electrical insulation materials being tested after the application of an ignition source.
4.2 Both fire test methods have been used for many years in association with materials covered in Test Methods D229. However, the test methods are potentially applicable to other rigid plastic materials.
4.3 These test methods do not assess other fire properties, including heat release or smoke release.
4.4 An optional additional measurement is the assessment of mass loss of the test specimen (by weighing before and after the test). No specific details are provided in these test methods for such an assessment.
