Standard Guide for Contents of Geostatistical Site Investigation Report
Importancia y uso:
4.1 This guide is intended to encourage consistency and thoroughness in the reporting of geostatistical site investigations by describing the basic information required in a complete report.
4.2 Referring to the table of contents suggested in Table 1, this guide may be used as a template by those preparing reports or as a checklist for review and auditing purposes by qualified nonparticipants in the study. Other reporting structures may be more appropriate, depending on the objective of the investigation and the subsequent analysis.
4.3 The significance of geostatistical analyses when used to analyze site investigation data is that they may offer useful quantitative insights into probable values of a variable at one or more points in the field where data have not been directly obtained—a common problem in geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological studies where data are relatively sparse compared to the field over which calculations are performed.
4.4 Example applications include mapping subsurface features; designing a groundwater monitoring and sampling plan; estimating ore, oil, and gas reserves; selecting geotechnical parameters for analysis and design; and estimating uncertainty and risk in these applications.
4.5 Because of the diverse array of tools to perform geostatistical analyses and different possible interpretations of their results, use of this guide will help to document the salient features of the geostatistical site investigation report.
