Standard Test Method for Evaluating the Impact of Nanomaterials on Phagocytic Function in Vitro
Importancia y uso:
5.1 This test method evaluates the effects of nanomaterials on the phagocytic function of phagocytic cells.
5.2 This luminol chemiluminescence-based assay is a measure of “phagocytic function,” including the ability to recognize and engulf opsonized zymosan A which can then activate oxidative burst. Test treatments (for example, nanomaterial) may modify any step in this phagocytic process.
5.3 Phagocytosis is an important component of the innate immune response and has a significant role in initiating the adaptive immune response. Suppression of phagocytic function by nanomaterial may impose a health risk due to a reduction in the host’s response to pathogens.
