4.1 This guide is intended to provide a list of techniques for lowering the microbial contamination of post-harvested inflorescence of cannabis and hemp plants.

4.2 This guide is only intended to be used for post-harvested inflorescence of cannabis and hemp plants.

4.3 Other methods may exist that can be used to lower microbial contamination, but only those methods that have both usage data treating post-harvested inflorescence of cannabis and hemp plants and are known techniques that have been implemented in other industries, specifically food, are provided in this guide.

4.4 This guide does not replace good manufacturing practices and is intended only as a reference to techniques for lowering microbial contamination that are appropriate for use on post-harvested inflorescence of cannabis and hemp plants.

4.5 This guide does not preclude the use of any of these techniques as a preventative control or kill step.

4.6 The amount of contamination and the technique used to reduce microbial load may result in degradation of non-microbial constituents of interest.
